SB | Gaels Host UMKC for Doubleheader

MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's softball team (12-18) will stick at home to host University of Missouri-Kansas City for a doubleheader Tuesday at Cottrell Field. First pitches are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.

SMC is coming off a three-game homestand last week versus Northwestern and Princeton. The Gaels lost a close 6-4 decision to the Wildcats, but followed up with a win versus Princeton in the first of two games against the Tigers.
Senior Katie Moss continues to deal in the mound, pitching seven complete games so far and allowing a team-best 2.30 ERA. Moss is coming off a 10-inning complete game win over Princeton, where she struck out 13 batters.
Second baseman Nikki Alexander leads the Gaels in the leadoff spot. Alexander is hitting .372 so far with 32 hits and a team-high 16 runs.
Shortstop Hailey Sparacino leads the Gaels in RBIs with 21. The junior is second on the team with a .278 batting average and .422 slugging percentage.
About the Roos
UMKC (7-23) is led by redshirt junior Kendra Leach. Leach In the Western Athletic Conference, Leach ranks in the top-three in several categories, including batting average, on-base percentage (.505) and slugging percentage (.671).
She also has a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and leads the category along with teammates Abbi Johnson (Midwest City, Okla.) and Abby Warkentine (Auburn, Kan.).
Shortstop Morgan Byrn (Lawrence, Kan.) has taken 40 total bases in the first 30 games of the season, going 25-for-75 at the plate (.333) while smashing a team-leading four home runs and accumulating a team-high 15 runs. Her four home runs are the third-most in the conference this season.
