MORAGA, Calif. - Following the conclusion of his historic senior campaign, first baseman Christian Almanza sat down with Andrew Marden, Sports Director at FOX40 Sacramento, to talk about the conclusion of the season and his success in his three seasons as a Gael.
After transferring from Utah for the 2022 season, Almanza slashed his way to a .323 average in his 34 games played. Despite being just a few plate appearances short of qualifying as a statistical leader, he still managed to record 42 hits and 7 homers to solidify his spot at first base for the 2023 campaign.
He went on to combine for over 100 starts, nearly 130 hits and 40 home runs in his final two seasons, helping break the program single-season record and career record for home runs with 24 this season and 47 in his career. Almanza was a two-time WCC First Team Selection and was also named the league's Co-Player of the Year in 2023.
