Women's soccer captain Savannah Schwarze scored her first goal of the 2025 season with a powerful strike from the top of the box in the Gaels 2-2 draw with CSUN last Thursday. Schwarze's goal represented the go-ahead goal at the time as she went on to be named the first Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2025-26 athletic year.
Schwarze was an everyday starter for the Gaels in 2024 and earned her second career All-WCC selection with 18 matches played, one goal and a team high four assists. She got off to another great start in the team's season opener last week with 90 minutes played and her sixth career goal, scoring the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute. Despite walking away with the tie, the Gaels outshot the Matadors 18-5 and dominated the offensive chances throughout the match.
