THEY SAID IT
Saint Mary's assistant coach Brett Zorich
I think everyone is in PR shape. We are flying all the way down for fast races so it's good to give the athletes more than one chance to run fast and race other talented athletes. Intensity of workouts has gone up and we have lowered the volume a bit. No crazy changes though."
Junior Ali Teliha
I'm really excited to race this weekend! My training has been going well and I finally feel like a fully healthy competitor. Doubling doesn't bother me at all. Having a second race is another opportunity to run faster!"
Sophomore Gabe Arias
My goal for the weekend is to break the school record. I am very excited to move into the more competitive field because it gives me an opportunity to see where my fitness is at this point in the season and see what I need to work on to be a better runner in the future.
I am more excited than nervous right now, but I tend to feel more nervous right before the gun goes off. Then after that I'm in my competitive state and ready to run hard and smart."
Junior Nyralee Chhotu
I had a little hiccup after the (UC) Davis meet, but I'm starting to get back into fully training again and look forward to finishing my season strong. This is my first race in four weeks and my first 1,500 of the season. I don't have a particular goal for this weekend, but I'm excited to get out there and race the 1,500."
