Emma Bangs Named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. — Rowing senior Emma Bangs has been named Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week after a strong performance last weekend on senior day.

At the only home competition this season for Saint Mary's, Bangs was the coxswain of the Gaels' Varsity 8 boat which finished first on Saturday against Santa Clara. In one of the strongest finishes of the season, the Gaels beat the Broncos by 15 seconds.

Bangs has served as coxswain on the first and second varsity eight boats for her entire career with SMC and has always been a vocal leader on the team. The competitive drive she brings to every race has propelled her to her best season yet as she moved up to the first varsity eight boat this year.

The Gaels will race next at the San Diego Crew Classic beginning this weekend. The first day of races will take place on Saturday and go through Sunday.
