MORAGA, Calif. – Entering his second full season with Saint Mary's cross country and track & field,
Harlan Lopez has been elevated to Associate Head Coach.
Â
"I'm excited to announce Harlan's promotion to Associate Head Coach," said head coach
Marty Kinsey. "He's done a fantastic job in his year and a half at Saint Mary's. He is here for the long run and this promotion will strengthen our program as we move forward building these teams."
Â
Since his arrival at SMC, the Gaels have shown noted improvement in both the track and cross country programs, including helping guide
Noah McDermott to the NCAA West Preliminary Championship in 2018. Furthermore, both cross country teams earned USTFCCCA NCAA Academic Honors last year, and the track teams earned the same distinction in each of his two seasons.
Â
"I want to thank
Marty Kinsey and the entire athletics department for the opportunities I have had at SMC," said Lopez. "I am honored to be promoted to Associate Head Coach and I look forward to helping guide the next generation of Gael runners. I have loved my time working here and am excited for what the future brings. Growing up less than 10 miles away, I truly feel at home at Saint Mary's and couldn't imagine working anywhere else."
