SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Saint Mary's swept the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week awards today as both Mariia Kozyreva (women's) and Damon Kesaris (men's) earned the honor. 

Kozyreva helped lead Saint Mary's to a victory over No. 43 Furman with a big win on the No. 1 singles court. With the Gaels down in the match 3-2, the junior battled through three tough sets to come out on top over 16th-ranked Katarina Kozarov with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win. It was the highest ranked opponent Kozyreva had defeated this season. 

SMC would go on to win the final singles match on court 6 to claim the match. 

The men's team also faced Furman on Wednesday and Kesaris powered through the Paladins' top singles player Jake Munns with a 6-4, 6-0 win. The senior's match was the first to end as he swept the middle set and Saint Mary's went on to win five of the six singles matches. 

The Gaels handed the talented Furman team a 6-1 loss to move to 7-5 on the year.
