SB | Gallagher Claims WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Gaels' junior Maddie Gallagher has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after a big weekend at the plate in San Jose.

Gallagher went 8-for-12 across four games at the Silicon Valley Classic to power the Saint Mary's offense. She also was hit by pitches three times to bring her on-base percentage up to .733 in the tournament and drove in three RBIs. On Friday versus Utah State, Gallagher went 3-for-4 with a run batted in for her second three hit game this year.

The junior college transfer has been a shot in the arm to head coach Sonja Garnett's lineup as she now leads the team in batting average (.358), OPS (.940), hits (24) and slugging percentage (.537).

Gallagher is the second Gael to earn a weekly honor from the conference this season after Vanessa Richie earned Pitcher of the Week after the first weekend of play.

The Gaels' next contest comes on Wednesday at home versus Oregon. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
