ORINDA, Calif. — Rowing season has arrived at Saint Mary's, as the Gaels are set to begin their 2021-22 season on Saturday against Cal. Saint Mary's is scheduled for three races in the fall semester, with six events scheduled for the spring semester, including the WCC Championship on May 14.

SEASON PREVIEW
Saint Mary's returns a good chunk of their roster from the altered 2021 spring rowing season, including All-WCC rower Emma Scanlan. This will be the first time since 2019 that Saint Mary's will feature fall rowing events, after the COVID-19 pandemic eliminated them last season. The Gaels will race in the Head of the Port and Head of the Lagoon events before winter rolls around, and will resume competition in March.

Sacramento State is a usual host and foe of the Gaels, and Saint Mary's will see them in back-to-back weeks in the middle of March. On the 12th, Saint Mary's races in the Sacramento State Invite before racing in the Hornet Invite one week later. Road trips will be in store the following two races, with the Gaels going to Creighton (Omaha, Nebraska) on April 2 and Portland on April 16. The season rounds out with the return of the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championship and the WCC Championship.
