ROW | SMC Lines Up for First Head of the Port Since 2019

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — It's been a while, but Saint Mary's Rowing will race in the Head of the Port for the first time since the 2019-20 season. Last year, the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out this annual race for Saint Mary's, where the Gaels will take on Sacramento State and UC Davis. It marks the second of three races this fall for the Gaels.

LAST TIME OUT
The 2021 fall season officially began last Saturday morning as the Gaels hit the water against Cal. In their first fall competition since the fall of 2019, SMC Rowing went up against five boats from Cal, while putting one in the water themselves. The format for the opening race featured a 1500-meter race at a 30-stroke rating and a 1000-meter race at an open-stroke rating, in which Cal was able to beat SMC.
