SAN BRUNO, Calif. — With the collegiate rowing season slated to begin in the spring, in what will be an abbreviated fashion, the West Coast Conference has named its 2021 Spring Preseason All-WCC squad, and Saint Mary's College has representation. Named to the preseason team this year are the two Emily's on the Gaels roster: Emily Ferbet and Emily Sprigings.
 
Ferbet makes the list for the first time in her career, while Sprigings builds off of her 2019 campaign that saw her named to the All-WCC team following the WCC championships that year. Come next fall, there will be more than one Ferbet on the Gaels roster, after they added Emily's sister Katie for the Fall of 2021.
 
"Both Emily's are really excelling this year," said head coach Anna Pytlak about her preseason All-WCC selections. "They are both leaders on the erg, on the water, and in the classroom. Congratulations to them both on this well-deserved honor!"
 
Around the conference, San Diego is slated to win the conference based on the preseason poll, with the Toreros earning one more point than Gonzaga (33 v. 32). The Gaels are one of four programs to land multiple rowers on the preseason All-WCC team, with San Diego (two), LMU (two), and Gonzaga (three) all landing more than one. Of the 17 student-athletes on the list, three were named to the All-WCC team in 2019 (the last year of the team due to the COVID-19 pandemic)
