XC | Personal Bests Fuel Gaels at Bronco Invite

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – It was a fast and furious morning at Baylands Park Saturday morning, as nine Gaels set new personal bests at the Bronco Invite.
MEN SET THE TONE
The Men's 8K got the morning started with 11 Gaels in action on the Baylands Park track. Sam Tyas had another solid race for Saint Mary's, finishing 45th in a time of 24:27.6, his fastest run of the season thus far. Curtis Volf was next across the line for the Gaels, claiming 64th in a time of 24:39.6, a personal best by nearly 40 seconds. Sophomore Blaine Reynolds finished 80th in a time of 24:48.7, with his Gaels teammate Richard McLain not far behind, finishing 115th in a personal best time of 25:07.4.
Thomas Osborne had a great race for Saint Mary's as well, finishing 129th in a personal best time of 25:20.4. Junior Luke Bland was next to finish for the Gaels, claiming 138th in a personal best time of 25:23.3. Troy Coulston kept the personal best train rolling, finishing 148th in a time of 25:34.3, a personal best by 26 seconds. Noah Pagaran finished 164th in a time of 25:48.5, as his Gaels teammate Reinder Prince finished just behind Pagaran in 171st in a time of 26:02.0.
Aidan Donovan and Angel Castro rounded out the field for the Gaels, with Donovan claiming 174th in a time of 26:06.2, a personal best by 50 seconds. Castro claimed 194th for Saint Mary's in a time of 26:50.9.
After a handful of personal bests, Saint Mary's were able to claim 14th out of 26 teams.
The Gaels also had four runners race in the Men's Open 8K as well, with Max Barnes the fastest of the bunch, finishing 47th in a time of 25:48.0 another Gaels personal best. Jacob Bravo wasn't far behind, claiming 55th in a time of 25:56.3, a personal best by over a minute. Bryan Cromartie was next to finish for the Gaels, claiming 127th in a time of 27:23.4. Isiah Jimenez brought it home for Saint Mary's finishing 134th in a time of 27:34.4.
Coach Harlan Lopez was pleased on how his team performed this morning, "Today the team ran strong. It was a big improvement over our previous races this season and gave us confidence heading into the post season. We still have some things to work on but overall we were happy with today."
WOMEN ON THE MOVE
The Women's 6K was next up, and they followed up the men with some great individual performances as well.
Rayna Stanziano looked as solid as ever, finishing 8th in a time of 20:06.3, a personal best by five seconds. Stanziano's teammates Molly Dreher got off to a great start in the first half of the race, eventually claiming 64thin a time of 21:23.2, another personal best.
Junior Emily Field wasn't far behind, snagging 80th in time of 21:41.1, a personal best by nearly a minute. Sofia Cuevas ran a solid race for the Gaels, finishing 127th in a time of 22:18.7, just a few seconds off her personal best.
Klara Frih was next across the line for the Gaels, claiming 145th in a time of 22:34.7. Senior Jiana Cortero took 154th, finishing in a time 22:41.8. Anna Ranieri wasn't far behind in 174th, finishing in a time of 23:08.3, a personal best by nine seconds.
Saint Mary's had a plethora of runners in the Women's Open 6K, with Daylana Ferguson and Kaylee Barnes leading the way for the Gaels, finishing 31st and 32nd respectively in times of 22:41.6 and 22:42.7. Aushmitha Grewal came next for Saint Mary's in 58th in a time of 23:36.5. She was followed closely by teammate Penelopea Gordon in 63rd in a time of 23:40.9.
Trinity Santana was in the mix as well, finishing 65th in a time of 23:42.6. Lauren Buckley and Elizabeth Nip were the next Gaels to cross the line, claiming 71st and 78th. Buckley finished in a time of 23:45.9, a personal best by five seconds, as Nip finished in a time of 23:50.1.
Callie Buchanan and Lotte Van Schaik brought it home for the Gaels, as Buchanan finished 102nd in a time of 24:21.8 and Van Schaik in 115th in a time of 24:53.2.
Coach Marty Kinsey praised his side, "I thought the women ran really well! Majority had PRs on the course but as far as a team race we have work to do before conference. We know we're better and will get a chance to show it at WCC".
The women's side were able to claim 15th out of 28 teams.
