MORAGA, Calif. — Few players in the West Coast Conference are on the tear that Logan Johnson is on right now. He helped pace the offense for No. 15 Saint Mary's last week with a pair of career-best performances, doing something no Gael has done since 2019. An incredible 65 points over two games was enough for Johnson to win this week's Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week award.
Johnson had the best week of his collegiate career, and the best week by any Gael since 2019. He scored 30+ points in back-to-back games, each time setting career bests. His 31 points against LMU on Thursday night came with five rebounds and two steals, and then he topped that with a stat line of 34/6/6 against Portland on Saturday afternoon. His game against Portland was even more impressive considering he needed just 18 shots to get 34 points, going 4-8 from distance. He is the first Gael since Jordan Ford in December, 2019 to record consecutive 30-point games.
For the week, Johnson shot an impressive 60.5% from the field (23-38) and was 6-12 from beyond the arc, while grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out seven assists. He is working on a streak of nine-straight games scoring at least 12 points.
The Gaels will remain on the road to start the penultimate week of the regular season, when they return back to SoCal for a matchup against the San Diego Toreros on Thursday. The game will tip-off at 6:00 pm and will be televised on regional sports networks around the country, including NBC Sports Bay Area back home. The final game of the week will be back at home on Saturday night as the Gaels host BYU on ESPN2. That game against the Cougars will be the final regular season game between the two teams as conference rivals, and also serves as Paint Moraga Red Night.
