ROW | Scarpine, Watson Named in Preseason All-WCC

SAN MATEO, Calif. – With the rowing season set to kick off in just a few short weeks, the West Coast Conference has unveiled its annual Preseason All-WCC team and coach's poll. Hathaway Scarpine and Olivia Watson represent the Gaels on the All-WCC Preseason team, with Saint Mary's in sixth for the preseason poll.
It's no surprise that Watson and Scarpine were honored to the preseason team, as both rowers have battled back from injuries and come back stronger than ever. Now in their third year with the program, both Scarpine and Watson make the Preseason All-WCC team for the first time in their Gaels careers. This marks the third season in a row two SMC rowers were included on the All-WCC team, as Katrina Heffernan and Emily Ferbet were named to the team last season, with Ferbet being joined by Emily Sprigings the year prior.
Around the conference, Gonzaga lead Creighton as favorites to win the West Coast Conference after clinching their 7th straight conference title last May. Each team is represented by multiple rowers on the All-WCC Preseason team, with the Zags leading the way with four rowers.
