MORAGA, Calif. — After putting together arguably the best two game stretch of his Gael career, point guard
Augustas Marciulionis has been named the Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week. This is the third time that Marciulionis has earned this honor in his Gael career, and the second time this year. Marciuilionis and
Alex Ducas have each now earned Student-Athlete of the Week honors twice this season.
Augustas kicked off his week with a 16 point, 10 assist double-double in the Gaels 81-70 WCC opening victory at San Diego. It was the Gaels first point/assist double-double since Tommy Kuhse put up 17 points and 11 assists in the Gaels victory over Western Kentucky in the 2021 NIT. His 10 assists led the Gaels, who had 21 in the game, their fourth 20+ assist game on the season. Augustas followed up his stellar performance against the Toreros with a career-high scoring tally at LMU, dropping 22 in the Gaels 68-64 win. The Gaels fell behind by four midway through the second half against the Lions, but turned to Marciulionis, who scored seven points over the next 3:30 to spark a 13-2 run to push Saint Mary's back ahead. The junior out of Lithuania did not leave the court in the second half against the Lions, leading the Gaels to victory. Over his last 10, Marciulionis has averaged 15 points and five assists per contest, having emerged as another potent offensive threat for the Gaels.
Augustas and the Gaels will take on Portland in their conference home opener on Thursday night at 8 PM, before returning to the road to take on Santa Clara on Saturday at 4 PM.
