SEATTLE - The Women's Track and Field team had a podium finish, broke multiple school records, and hit multiple PRs at the MPSF Championships.
The Distance Medley Relay team finished third of 10 giving the Gaels their first podium finish in program history. The Gaels had to readjust their relay due to Rayna Stanziano and Luz Mercado having to step out of the event. Ana Mercado and Maddie Dwyer stepped in and Jaden DeSouza was moved to the 800. Even with the adjustments, the Gaels stayed strong. DeSouza set a lifetime best in her relay split of 2:14. With the Gaels in second to last place, Molly Dreher received the baton and ran the fastest 1600 leg of the day to move the Gaels up to third place. The team finished with a time of 11:50.12, 0.48 seconds faster than UC Riverside who placed fourth.
The Freshman, Alexandra Davis-Libiano, now holds the new Saint Mary's school record in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.29, 0.05 seconds faster than the previous record. Lauryn Nazareno also competed in the 60 meter dash and is now third in the program with a time of 8.40.
Maddie Dwyer secured her name in the Saint Mary's record book by sprinting the fastest time in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.04, 0.18 seconds faster than her teammate DeSouza.
Kaylee Barnes finished in 9th place in the 3000m race, with a time of 9:53.94. The time was a new PR for Barnes, who now owns the fourth slot in the Saint Mary's record book for the 3000 meter run.
Molly Dreher also dominated in the mile with a time of 4:56.50 finishing in 7th and having one of the fastest times in the record book. Ana Mercado had a season best and finished in 6th place for the 800 meter run with a time of 2:14.70.
