Aiden Taurek Wins First Career Shamrock Student-Athlete of the Week after 9-Hit Week

MORAGA, Calif. - Aiden Taurek has been surging down the final month of the season and as a result the Saint Mary's baseball team has climbed into a tie for third place in the WCc standings. Taurek put together nine hits, four doubles, a triple, two home runs and seven RBI in his five-game week to be named this week's Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week.
The weekly honor is the first of his SMC career as Taurek has been a staple in the Gaels lineup all season long. His impressive stat line also helped clinch the Gaels a spot in the conference tournament in Las Vegas starting on Wednesday, May 21st. Taurek recorded three multi-hit games on the week including a double and a run scored in the team's 6-3 defeat to fifth ranked Oregon on Tuesday. Taurek then rattled off six hits, two homers and a team high seven RBI in his three-game series against conference rival Gonzaga. His performance helped lead the Gaels to a series win over the Zags for their fourth straight WCC series win dating back to April 17th.
Saint Mary's will return to Br. Ronald Gallagher Stadium this week for their final home series of the season as they host Santa Clara. Game one is slated for Thursday, May 15th at 3:00 PM. Tickets can be bought online at smcgaels.com/tickets and you can catch all the action live on ESPN+.
