ROW | Skye Kirsten and Katelyn Robertson Named to the WCC All-Academic Team, Six More Named Honorable Mention

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Coming off of one of their best seasons to date, Saint Mary's Rowing will have more accolades to award their outstanding student athletes, with eight of their rowers being named to the WCC All-Academic team, headlined by Skye Kirsten and Katelyn Robertson, who both were named as first team members. This is the first time since the 2021 season that the Gaels have had multiple student-athletes garner first team honors.

In order to be considered for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must meet all the following standards:

(a) A minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average (GPA) based on the most recently completed term at the time of the nomination.

(b) Be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.

(c) Have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one year in residence completed at the nominating institution. (True freshmen, redshirt freshmen and ineligible transfers may not be nominated). An ineligible transfer refers to somebody who transferred to your team following the 2023-24 season and is on your roster for the first time in 2024-25.

(d) Participate in at least 50 percent of the institution's completed contests.

Skye Kirsten served as one of the Gaels varsity eight coxswains in all but one race this season. She spent most of her sophomore campaign as the coxswain for the Gaels second varsity eight boat, but did lead the Gaels first varsity eight to victory against Kansas State in the Hornet Invitational. Hailing from San Francisco, Kirsten maintains a 3.96 cumulative GPA as an exercise science major.

Fellow sophomore Katelyn Robertson rowed in the six spot of the Gaels first varsity eight in every race this year. Despite her youth, Robertson has been a mainstay in the Gaels first varsity eight boat over her past two seasons with the Gaels. A Jacksonville, Oregon native, Robertson holds a 3.995 cumulative GPA as a biology major.

Named as honorable mention members of the academic all-conference team were Ava Delucchi, Katie Ferbet, Faith Freligh, Maria Moreno Roque, Natalie Sanchez and Hathaway Scarpine. This is the fourth time in four years of eligibility that Scarpine has been named to the all-academic team, and the third in three years of eligibility that Ferbet earned her spot on the all-academic team.
