Few players on the Gaels have been more consistent than Alex Ducas through the first five weeks of the season. After another steady week helping lead the Saint Mary’s offense, Ducas has been named the Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week for the first time this season.
Ducas was named the Boost Mobile Player of the Game during the Jerry Colangelo Classic after putting up 17 points in the win over No. 22 San Diego State. The senior guard from Australia scored 14 of those points in the first half, including 10 of the Gaels first 15 points. For the week, he averaged 13 points per game and shot 47.4% from the floor, while adding seven rebounds and three steals. Ducas ranks second in the WCC in both three-pointers made and 3FG%.
This is the second Student-Athlete of the Week award won by a men’s basketball player this year, with Mitchell Saxen winning the first award on November 28.
