Saint Mary's College Athletics Gaels
Marty Kinsey 2025 Headshots

Marty Kinsey

Head Coach Marty Kinsey was hired in March of 2010. He was the program's first ever full-time head coach. Previously, Coach Kinsey worked at Creighton University as an assistant. He brought a wealth of Saint Mary's experience with him as he graduated from the college with a Bachelor’s degree in 2001. Kinsey competed for the Gaels from 1997-2001 as team captain where his team would earn its highest finish in program history at the WCC and NCAA West Region Championships. After graduating, Kinsey found an 8-year career in business sales management and marketing. In 2008 he married Genevieve Kinsey (05') at the campus chapel. He has three children and lives in Moraga with his family. During his time as head coach he radically changed the culture of the program. He helped add track as a Division I sport in 2012, Indoor Track in 2022, recruited top-tiered athletes and began coaching athletes to national level meets from USA Junior Championships, to NCAA DI Cross Country and Track championships, to the USATF Championship. "Having been a student-athlete at Saint Mary's, and having such a transformative and positive experience here, I'm excited to lead the program to many firsts... Each year we rewrite the record books from school records, strength of recruiting classes, academic honors, fundraising goals, and more. The college has rewarded our efforts with more operating funds and scholarship dollars to continue to rise up the WCC and NCAA national ranks. The people who chose to be a part of our program are individuals who want to be part of a program's evolution, cultural improvements, and to lay claim as being one of the ‘firsts’ who helped us achieve new levels of success in both athletics and academics."
