Moraga, CA - In Saint Mary's men's tennis action from Sunday, the Gaels defeated the University of Nevada-Reno 7-0 at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex. SMC won 8-of-the-9 matches, losing only the number-one doubles match.
The Gaels would go one to take two-of-three doubles matches to earn the first point in the match. After Nevada posted an 8-4 win at number-one doubles, the team of Thomas Burgemeister and Filip Sarovic posted an 8-4 win. SMC's number-three pair of Andre Sion and J.J. Whitlinger defeated Rudi Leuschner and Brandon Sieh, 8-6, to secure the doubles point.
In singles action, the Gaels posted straight set victories on all six singles matches. Burgemeister, playing at number-one, defeated Adam Joost 6-2, 6-1 to set the tone for the Gaels. Romain Lachens, playing at number-two won the closest singles match of the day, over Leuschner 6-3, 6-3.
Saint Mary's will return to the tennis court on Monday when the Gaels host Air Force starting at 3:00 PM at the Korth Tennis Complex.
