Men's Tennis Makes it Six in a Row

Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's men's tennis team continued to roll when it earned its sixth victory in a row by beating Nevada 5-2. The Gaels who endured four matches this week and was coming off an exhibition match yesterday dropped the doubles point to start the afternoon but came back to win five of the six singles matches to capture the victory. Saint Mary's has now eclipsed the double-digit mark in the win column improving its record to 10-6.

In singles action Saint Mary's was able to take five of the six matches. Three Gaels earned their 12th victory on the season. Freshman Andre Sion was one of the three to capture victory number 12 as he went on to beat Adam Jooste at the #1 position 6-2, 6-3. Vincent LeBorgne finished off the month of March unbeaten, earning his 12th victory on the season as well defeating Milos Popovic 6-3, 7-5 at the #3 position. Also capturing his 12th victory on the season was Adam Fauvre as he outlasted Brandon Sieh in a marathon match at the #5 position winning by a score of 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (10-8).

Saint Mary's senior Rafael Lopez got his season back on track by earning a victory at the #4 position defeating Daniel Ericsson by a score of 6-3, 6-4. At the #2 position Martin Marechal defeated Nevada's Rudy Leuschner 6-3, 6-4. The lone singles loss for the Gaels came at the #6 position where J.J. Whitlinger fell to Rafael Stupka 6-4, 6-2.

The Gaels dropped the doubles point by losing two of the three matches. The lone win for Saint Mary's in doubles action came at the #3 position where the Gaels' duo of Rafael Lopez and Adam Fauvre combined to beat Nevada's Rafael Stupka and Kensuke Watabe 8-3.

The Gaels fell at the #1 and #2 positions. At the #1 position the Saint Mary's tandem of Martin Marechal and Andre Sion were defeated by Adam Jooste and Daniel Ericsson 8-5. At the #2 position Vincent LeBorgne and J.J. Whitlinger fell to Nevada's Rudolf Leuschner and Brandon Sieh 8-6.

Saint Mary's returns to action on Friday, April 2 when it hosts UC San Diego at the Tim Korth Tennis Complex at 3:00 PM.
