
Cross Country Tackles Balboa Park

San Diego, CA- The Saint Mary's men's and women's cross country teams completed another week of competition this morning at Balboa Park in San Diego. Sophomore Clare Schwallie paced the lady harriers with a time of 20:17 and junior Sean Hanley led the men with a 30:02.
In just her second race of her career, Schwallie once again led the Gaels, improving her time over 20-seconds over the course of the week. Junior Deanna Price followed with a 21:31. Senior Jamee Thomson crossed the line at a 21:39 while sophomore Karri Hagedorn finished with a 21:55.
Sophomore Amanda Kimmey rounded out the Gael scorers with a 23:01. Junior Claudia Aguilera crossed the line at 23:26 while Ruzena Kovacic finished with a 23:33.
On the men's side, Hanley paced SMC for the third time this season. Senior James Bolger closely followed with a time of 30:15. Senior Travis Biziorek crossed the line at 31:08 while newcomer Michael Truxton finished at 32:02.
In his first race of the season, senior Casey Chadd finished with a time of 32:09. Sophomores Peter Mathieu and Alex Nabors rounded out the Gaels with times of 33:20 and 34:35, respectively.
Saint Mary's will return to the trails when it heads to Palo Alto to participate in the Stanford Invitational. The prestigious meet is scheduled for Saturday, September 24 with the first gun sounding off at 4 p.m.
