Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team needed two grueling efforts by Julien Tizot and Yury Platonov in singles action to beat Sacramento State 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Korth Tennis Complex.
After dropping the doubles point, the Gaels took four out of six singles matches in order to improve to 3-4 on the season.
Julien Tizot won a tough three set match, beating Junaid Hossain at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-2, 6-7 (7-4), 6-3, all while battling through cramps during the match.
Yury Platonov also won his singles match at No. 4, beating Ramon Perez, 6-1, 6-7 (8-6), 6-4. Achim Christner won 6-2, 6-2 and Alp Ozpinar won 6-3, 6-4 for the Gaels final two points.
