Berkeley, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team competed and fell to Cal's tennis team 5-1 earlier today in Berekely. The Gaels came out tough after having won its two first games last week, but fell short to the Golden Bears.
Gael newcomer Joel Kusnierz lost his first match of the season to Cal's Pierre Mouillon. Senior Andre Sion remained undefeated, winning his third straight match this year. Today, he won in three sets against Tyler Browne.
Achim Christner, Andrea Zannoni, Yury Platanov and Adam Fauvre all lost in tough two set matches.
The Gaels played tough today but came up on the wrong side a few close matches. The squad will regroup and return to action tomorrow when they face the UC Davis Aggies in their home opener at the Korth Tennis Complex at Noon.
