
Eric Cattoni Garners Prestigious CRC Achievement Award

Moraga, CA- Saint Mary's senior outfielder Eric Cattoni was awarded the CRC Press Chemistry Achievement Award for his outstanding scholastic achievement in chemistry. The award was presented by the Taylor and Francis Group. The CRC Press Chemistry Award has been in place for more than 50 years.
"It was a huge surprise," Cattoni said. "I am very honored and proud to receive this award. I take my academics very seriously and it feels great to have my efforts recognized."
Along with the award, the 4.0 GPA Lethbridge, Alberta native received an 86th Edition CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics.
"Eric is a true representative of Saint Mary's College and what we are trying to do on and off the field." Head coach Jedd Soto said.
On the field, Cattoni is batting .314 with 14 runs and three doubles. The fleet-footed outfielder has also driven in four runs and swiped nine bags in 10 attempts. The nine stolen bases are among the most in the nation.
Cattoni led the team in 2006 with 30 walks, 17 stolen bases and 16 doubles.
After his baseball career, Cattoni plans to study further, either in medical school or in graduate research.
