Men's Tennis Wins Final Home Match of the Season

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team competed in its final home competition of the season today against the Pacific Tigers. The Gaels defeated the Tigers by a score of 7-0.

The competition got underway with doubles matches. Andre Sion and Adam Fauvre dropped their match 8-5. Andrea Zannoni and Alp Ozpinar won their match 8-3. With the doubles point on the line, Yury Platonov and Joel Kusnierz found themselves down 0-5. The two showed grit and determination as they fought back from their five game deficits to win the match 8-6 and give the Gaels the doubles point.

After the tough doubles matches the Gaels rolled through singles. Joel Kusnierz played in his first singles match in nearly a month. He won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Achim Christner won his match 6-4, 6-2.

Senior Andre Sion won his last home match 6-2, 6-3. Senior Adam Fauvre followed suit winning his match. Fauvre was winning in the tiebreaker when the Pacific player retired. Senior Yury Platonov won his match in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. Senior Dan Anderson won his final home match for the Gaels by a score of 6-1, 6-2.

Today was the final home match for five Gael seniors. Dan Anderson, Thomas Dawson-Roberts, Adam Fauvre, Yury Platonov and Andre Sion are all in their final season. These five will graduate from Saint Mary's this May.
