San Francisco, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis improved to 13-4, defeating Francisco for the second time this season, 4-3. The Gaels were led by their one through four positions in singles, each recording a win over the Dons.
Joel Kusnierz wrapped-up the month of March with an 7-0 record at the No. 1 position, while also recording his 10th consecutive win. In the match against the Dons the senior defeated San Francisco's Thong Tu with ease, 6-2, 6-4. Kusnierz paired up with freshman Lucas Tirelli to earn the Gaels' only doubles win, 8-6, while also at the No. 1 spot.
Achim Christner posted an important win for Saint Mary's at the No. 4 position, defeating Einar Hart in a more than close battle, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2. Christner fought off six game points to capture the first set, and then went on to dominate Hart, 6-2, in the second set. Tirelli and Marek Dvorak also recorded wins in singles for the Gaels, defeating their opponents 6-2, 6-3 and 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 respectively.
Saint Mary's returns to action at Stanford on April 8 at 1:30 PM, and will finish the regular season in southern California against Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount on April 12 and 13.
