Moraga, CA -- Sophomore Rosie Smith broke a two year old record in the 6K on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational. Smith finished the race 32nd overall with a time of 21:45, breaking Karrie Hagedorn's mark of 21:50 set in 2008 by five seconds.
Smith's finish of 32nd overall, was the best finish for a Gael at the Stanford Invitational since 2002, and first top-50 finish in over three years. The Gaels placed 16th out of 24 teams, quite possibly the best showing for the women's team in a major meet in years and only two points behind rival Santa Clara.
