
LAX: Saint Mary's Falls To Vermont

DENVER, Colo. - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team fell behind early and a strong second-half came up short as Vermont defeated the Gaels 19-11 on Sunday afternoon in Denver. Mariah Walk scored four goals with one assist, while Jillian Chong added three goals and two assists in the loss.
Saint Mary's drops to 0-4 while Vermont improves to 1-3.
After Walk scored a goal to tie the game at 1-1, Vermont went on a 9-1 run to take a commanding 10-2 lead with 5:07 remaining in the half. SMC ended the half on a 3-1 run as Walk scored twice while Anna Maria Carabini scored to pull the Gaels within 11-5 at halftime.
In the second-half the Gaels pulled within 12-8 after Sarah Howard scored with 24:20 remaining in the game. Vermont scored three unanswered goals to pull away as the Catamounts captured the 19-11 win.
Walk scored four goals while Chong added three goals. Munroe, Kassandra Lemons, Carabini and Howard all scored goals for SMC. Kathleen Worsdale saved 14 shots in goal.
Vermont was led by Lauren Johnson, Sydney Mas and Emma Kelly with four goals each.
Saint Mary's is back in action on Thursday, March 10 when it travels to Fresno State.
