SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Saint Mary's women's tennis player Parminder Kaur used her sophomore season to excel both on and off the court as she landed a spot on the West Coast Conference All-Academic honorable mention list, the conference announced Thursday.
Kaur, who has not declared a major yet, earned her spot on the list after carrying a 3.24 grade point average (GPA). The academic success comes at the same time she made a major impact on the court, playing No. 6 singles early in the season and thriving at No. 1 doubles with partner Jana McCord all year. Kaur and McCord spent the majority of the season in the national rankings and are currently ranked No. 59 in the nation.
Of course, the season isn't over for Kaur, who will travel to Southern California with the Gaels next week to take part in the NCAA Tournament. First round action begins at 9 a.m. on May 9 when Saint Mary's faces Northwestern at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The winner of that match will go on to play either UCLA or Idaho the next day.
