MBK | Rahon Named to WCC All-Academic Squad

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Senior captain Joe Rahon keeps collecting awards for his resumé, as the guard was named to the 2016-17 West Coast Conference All-Academic team, the conference announced today.
Rahon was also named to the CoSIDA All-District 8 Academic honorees earlier this month. Along with Rahon, the list is headlined by a total of three other CoSIDA All-District 8 Academic honorees: BYU sophomore Eric Mika, Gonzaga junior Nigel Williams-Goss and Santa Clara senior Nate Kratch.
This is Rahon's second straight year being named to the conference's men's basketball All-Academic team. The senior graduated with his bachelor's in economics last year, and is now earning his master's degree in Leadership.
In the current season, the 6-2 guard from San Diego is once again proving to be a vital piece to the Gaels success. Rahon leads the team and conference in assists per game (5.8). He is also 21st in the NCAA in assists per game, 9th in assist-to-turnover ratio and 9th in minutes played per game (37.0).
Along with teammate Dane Pineau, Rahon will play his final game at McKeon Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 25. The team will honor his and Pineau's achievements before the tipoff versus Santa Clara.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
