LAX | Saint Mary's Begins Road Swing Friday

MORAGA, Calif. — Two more matches are scheduled for the Saint Mary's lacrosse team (0-2, 0-2 MPSF) as the Gaels will travel to take on Robert Morris University on Friday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. PT and the Butler Bulldogs on Sunday, Feb. 26, 12 p.m. PT.
The Gaels are coming off a hard fought performance at home Tuesday afternoon versus No. 15 Stanford.
SMC is shooting 73.9 percent of its shot on goal and have collected 26 ground balls. The Gaels have also caused 23 turnovers.
Junior attacker Jocelyn Lubert leads the squad with three goals on five shots. The third year player has also collected three ground balls and forced two turnovers.
Senior midfielder Meagan Bennett is second on the team with two goals. Bennett is coming off a two-goal performance versus the Cardinal.
Robert Morris picked up a 21-6 victory over Central Michigan, thanks in part to impressive efforts from a trio of Colonials freshmen. Midfielders Mackenzie Gandy and Annie Sachs were dominant on offense, with Gandy scoring five goals and two assists, while Sachs tallied four goals and two assists, posting five ground balls and five caused turnovers.
The Bulldogs fell to Detroit 20-9 last Saturday at the Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Detroit, Michigan moving their overall record to 0-2. Haley Hallenbeck and Journey Fischbeck share the team lead in points with eight. Hallenbeck is the top goal scorer on the team with seven while Fischbeck leads the way with three assists.
Ashley Lizzi and Christina Soderquist are the top two BU players to come up with draw controls. Lizzi currently leads the team in the category with seven, but Soderquist is close behind with six.
