BERKELEY, Calif. — Saint Mary's (1-9) will travel just up the freeway to take on the Cal Bears (2-10) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. The Bears won last year's matchup between the two teams in Moraga, 15-5.
The Gaels scored 14 goals in their last matchup versus Saint Francis, their second best offensive performance of the season. Emily Mack recorded four goals and 13 shots in the eventual 21-14 loss.
Leading the Gaels' offense against Cal is Jocelyn Lubert who boasts a team-leading 21 goals on the season. Freshman Jillian Dunlap leads the team in assists with seven and is second on the team with 22 points. Mack has also chipped in with 16 goals and 20 points this year.
As a team, the Gaels have a shot on goal percentage of .801, compared to their competition this season at .749. Saint Mary's is averaging over 21 shots per game and has converted on free position attempts at a 37.3 percent clip.
The Bears are led by senior Jena Fritts who has 33 goals and eight assists on the season. Jenny Wilkens has started all 12 games for the Golden Bears this season and has a .407 save percentage.
