
XC | Gaels Finish Strong at NCAA West Regionals

Saint Mary's had a number of strong finishes today at the NCAA West Regionals, including a historic finish from Nolan Dozier.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Gaels competed on Friday at the NCAA West Regionals and brought in strong numbers with both teams improving on their finishes from last year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Women (6K): 23rd-place out of 36.
The women's cross country team finished strong in 23rd place on Friday, as they improved a whole ten spots from their position in 2017. The top finishers for the Gaels were Abby Bolt who ran a time of 21:41.4 followed closely by Kaela Dishion who ran a 21:45.5.
Men (10K): 19th-place out of 29.
The men's cross country team also had a great finish, and improved from 22nd place in 2017 to 19th place at this year's race. Nolan Dozier ran the best time for the Gaels (30:32.0) and finished in 45th place, which is the third-highest finish in men's cross country history. Moses Bojorquez came in second for the Gaels with a time of 31:04.

"The races went well today. Both teams improved quite a bit from last year," said coach Marty Kinsey. "Kaela really stepped up in this race which allowed us to move up. It was a good team effort all around. On the men's side, I was happy with our improvements from last year with our young team. Nolan raced really well and finished third-highest in school history, Moses also really stepped up. From the first mile to the finish, we moved up 200 points. They really executed a game plan as a team. I am really proud of their performance this year. I am looking forward to getting ready for track."
