MORAGA, Calif. - In a high energy, passionate match, Saint Mary's men's tennis (3-13, 0-4 WCC) forced tough matches but ultimately fell to Pepperdine (4-12, 1-2 WCC), 4-1 at Timothy Korth Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
Pepperdine won the important doubles point after securing wins on courts 1 and 3. The Waves top duo handed Damon Kesaris and Nash Vollenweider their first conference loss of the season with the 6-2 score.
Down 3-0, Saint Mary's got on the board as Kesaris won his contest in straight sets on court 1. The second year player is now 11-3 in the dual season and has won his last five contests.
Senior Nash Vollenweider battled back after dropping the first set, and won the second set, 6-4, in an unfinished match.
The Gaels will be back in action on Thursday, April 5 at home versus BYU. First serve is set for 2 p.m. PDT.
