STANFORD, Calif. - Saint Mary's swept through its matches on day two of the Stanford Bay Area Kickoff on Saturday, sweeping West Coast Conference rivals San Francisco, 5-0, and Santa Clara, 4-1, at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.

The Gaels' (5-1) No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 pairs all went undefeated on the day. SMC's top two pairs of Morgan Hughes and Payton Rund, and Emily Bible and Lindsey Knudsen, each earned victories at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. The team of Sarah Chase and Mary Hernandez went 2-0 at No. 3 pairs, and Madi Wilkerson and Sienna Young teamed to go unbeaten at No. 4 pairs.

Hughes and Rund had the most dominant day of all, holding their opponents to single-digit points in three of four sets played. They beat USF's (1-3) top pair of Haley Howell and Carly Lowry, 21-13 and 21-9. Later they dominated Santa Clara's (1-4) No. 2 pair of Hailey Lindberg and Gretchen Reinert, 21-7 and 21-5.

The Gaels will play their first home match of the season at 3 p.m. on March 13 versus Santa Clara at Moraga Commons.
