Biography

AS A JUNIOR (2017-18)

Beach:  Went 18-10 during the season while paired up with Payton Rund for the majority of the season and went 13- 9  at the No.1 line and 5-1 at the No.2… Hughes won nine straight matches during the month of March… Hughes partnered with Rund at No.1 to beat No.16/19 California’s Inman and Mirkovic 21-17, 21-10… Was named SMC Muscle Milk Athlete of the week(March 12-18).

Indoor: Named to the All-Tournament team at the Ameritas Players Challenge hosted by then-No. 12 Nebraska on Sept. 1-2 … Had a team-best .320 hitting percentage (7th in WCC) to go with 227 kills (2nd on team) … Was second on the team with 98 blocks, including 12 solos … Had double-digit kills in eight matches … Tallied 10 or more kills in three straight matches from Oct. 21-28 … Collected a career-high 23 kills with a .611 hitting percentage versus Gonzaga on Nov. 18 in a five set victory … Hit at least .500 or better in six matches, including a season-best .700 versus UMBC on Sept. 1.

PRIOR TO SAINT MARY’S:
Transferred from Feather River College after two years of playing indoor and beach volleyball with the Golden Eagles … Named 2016 All-State and All-Nor Cal while also being named the Golden Valley Conference MVP … Also named first team all-GVC as a freshman in 2015 … Hughes tallied a total of 603 kills during her junior college career … Collected 114 digs, 40 blocks, and 21 aces in her freshman season of 2015 She also made it to the 2016 CCCAA State Beach Volleyball Individuals competition … Hughes led her team with 370 kills as a sophomore in 2016, 10th-most in the CCCAA … Totaled 233 digs, 73 blocks, and hit .294 in 2016 … Hughes helped the Golden Eagles go undefeated during the 2017 beach volleyball season, as the team finished with the No. 1 ranking in the CCCAA … Qualified for the CCCAA Beach Volleyball team and individual state championships in 2017.
