HOBART, Tasmania – The Saint Mary's men's basketball team returned to the home island of juniors Kyle Clark and Tanner Krebs on Sunday afternoon, facing the Hobart Chargers on the island of Tasmania.
 
The Gaels beat the Chargers 73-64 at the Kingborough Sports Centre and were led by Krebs who scored 15 points and grabbed four rebounds in the win.
 
"It was fun to be out there with so many familiar faces in the crowd," Krebs said. "It was cool to look up and see a lot of people wearing Saint Mary's gear."
 
Nearly 100 hundred friends and family were in the crowd to watch Clark and Krebs, who were playing on the island for the first time since high school. Clark finished with four points and two rebounds.
 
"This was a great experience today," Clark said. "I haven't been able to play in front of my family in a long time. It was also cool to play against some of the guys I grew up with on the Hobart team."
 
Saint Mary's also received help offensively from Jock Perry, who had 15 points and six rebounds, Kristers Zoriks had 10 points and four assists and Elijah Thomas had eight points and three rebounds.
 
Following the afternoon game, the Gaels had a team dinner and were joined by the families of Krebs and Clark, who were local tour guides around Hobart.
 
The Gaels travel back north to Sydney on Monday, in preparation of two games to end the foreign tour down under.
