PROVO, Utah — Saint Mary's (2-9, 0-1 WCC) faced on against No. 25 BYU (13-2, 1-0 WCC) on the road on Saturday but fell against the top-ranked WCC team, 4-1.
Matis Bot had a strong day for the Gaels on both the singles and doubles courts. Partnering with Abhishek Bastola, he led BYU's top tandem 5-2 before the match was called. In singles play, Bot took down Sam Tullis in straight sets to grab the Gaels' only point of the day.
Bastola also forced three sets with his opponent Jeffrey Hsu on Court 2 after the Gaels' junior won the first set 6-3.
