BERKELEY, Calif. – The Gaels' 10-match win streak came to a halt on Saturday as No. 18 Saint Mary's fell to No. 12 California 5-0.
 
Two SMC pairs took the Golden Bears to the limit, forcing three sets in the first and fifth positions. 
 
At No. 1, Lindsey Knudsen and Sarah Chase dropped the first set, but then took the second 21-17 before falling in the third by the close score of 15-11. In the fifth position, Chandler Cowell and Selbie Christensen won the second set 25-23 and scored fifteen in the third. However, their opponents escaped with a 17-15 final set win. 
 
The Gaels will not have to wait long to attempt retribution on Cal as the two will go head-to-head at Saint Mary's next Wednesday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m.
