SB | Gaels Face Hornets, Tigers This Week

Saint Mary's will host Sacramento State tomorrow before heading to Stockton for a weekend series.

MORAGA, Calif. — Fresh off a series win over Santa Clara, the Gaels will play five games this week beginning with a non-conference doubleheader tomorrow versus Sacramento State before heading to Stockton to play Pacific on Friday.

ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE
The Hornets come to Moraga with a 22-18 record and 5-3 mark in conference play. Sac State has won five of their past six games, including a 5-2 win on the road against No. 24 Stanford.

As a team, the Hornets are batting .276 and have two players boasting averages above .300. Nene Alas has appeared in all 40 games for Sac State and owns a .354 average with 12 stolen bases to boot. Krystal Aubert also has an impressive .322 average and has belted 10 homers this season.

Leading the pitching staff is Savanna Corr who has started 20 games with 11 of those going as complete games. Corr is 15-9 with a 2.14 ERA and has amassed 121 strikeouts in 150.2 inninings.

Head to head, Saint Mary's has won the last four meetings between the two teams and 10 of the last 11 dating back to 2010.

ABOUT PACIFIC
The Tigers are 14-25, 0-6 WCC this season but are currently mired in a 12-game losing streak dating back to March 22. Pacific is returning back to Stockton after being swept at BYU and allowed 32 runs during the three-game series.

The Tigers top four batting averages all belong to freshmen and Madison Kahwaty leads the bunch at .290. Kahwaty is tied with fellow first-year Jessica Mabrey with five long balls this season. Another freshman, Carly Lucchetti, is the team's greatest threat on the base paths as she's 9-for-12 in stolen base attempts.

Hailey Reed leads the Tigers in almost all pitching categories, including ERA at 3.08. The junior has 99 K's in 95.1 innings but is also susceptible to the home run ball with 11 allowed.

Pacific took two of three from Saint Mary's last season in Moraga.
