11/12/2025 12:11:00 PM | Softball
MORAGA, Calif. — The Gaels are primed and ready to defend their back-to-back WCC Titles in 2026, but also have their eyes set on the future by signing a group of six that will begin their collegiate competition in 2027. With six seniors on this year's roster, the Gaels hope that this group of young talent will help a seamless transition from 2026 to 2027.
"We are excited about our incoming group of Gaels! They all bring something unique that is going to keep us growing in the right direction." noted Head Coach Sonja Garnett, "They provide power, speed, and Viviana has outstanding spin. We look forward to hitting the field with them next year!"
Let's introduce you to the newest group of Gaels:
Ariana Magdaleno, 5-6, Infield, Bonita Vista HS, Chula Vista, Calif.
Coming in from one of the top softball programs in the state, infielder Ariana Magdaleno will head north to Saint Mary's from Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, just south of San Diego. A career 0.419 hitter, Magdaleno is coming off of arguably her best campaign to date, leading the Barons by batting 0.444 with 44 knocks, including 10 doubles. Magdaleno also had a stellar 63 assists on the diamond to lead Bonita Vista. A three time All-Metro Mesa league honoree, Magdaleno also plays flag football for the Barons.
Emily Morris, 5-7, Catcher, Dixon HS, Dixon, Calif.
Emily Morris will add depth behind the plate for the Gaels, coming out of Dixon High School, midway between Saint Mary's and Sacramento. A stalwart in the Rams lineup, Morris led her team with 20 extra base hits, including 14 doubles and five home runs, while driving in a team best 35. A three time first team all-Golden Empire League honoree for softball, Morris was also an all-league honoree in basketball and flag football for the Rams.
Arianna Munoz, 5-2, Outfield, Summit HS, Corona, Calif.
With a great balance of offensive and defensive abilities, SoCal product Arianna Munoz will make her way to Moraga from Summit High School in Fontana. The Corona, California native had an incredible offensive campaign last year, batting 0.446 with 41 hits, nine doubles, five home runs and 27 RBI, all while manning the center field position. The stellar offensive numbers were not exclusive to her junior year, as Munoz is a career 0.448 hitter in 75 games played, with 31 doubles, 15 home runs and 77 RBI, earning team MVP honors as a freshman, and player of the year honors as a sophomore.
Mia Negrete, 5-5, Infield, St. Paul HS, East Los Angeles, Calif.
Primarily a third baseman, Mia Negrete is the fourth of six Gaels in the incoming class of 2026 to hail from Southern California. A four year varsity player, Negrete helped her team to an Eastern League Title in 2024, and was named All-Eastern League in 2024 and 2023. Negrete spent time at Garfield High School, but will finish her prep career at St. Paul High School, who made it to the Southern Section DIII Quarter-Finals last year.
Viviana Ramirez, 5-7, Pitcher, Moorpark HS, Fillmore, Calif.
Right handed pitcher Viviana Ramirez will make her way north from Moorpark High School to Moraga. A regular in the pitching rotation at Moorpark since her freshman campaign, Ramirez has tossed 138.1 innings over the past three seasons, going 12-8 with a 3.39 ERA, 153 strikeouts and 64 walks. Opponents have hit just 0.219 against her throughout her prep career. Ramirez has helped lead the Musketeers to two Coast Canyon League titles in the past three years, and has been ranked in top-15 pitchers in the state and top-40 in the nation.
Rylie Skibbe, 5-10, Infield, Cypress Ranch HS, Houston, Tex.
Coming from the Lone Star State, Rylie Skibbe is a power hitting corner infielder who preps at Cypress Ranch High School in Houston, Texas. A free swinger from the right handed batter's box, Skibbe led the Mustangs with four home runs last season and a 0.744 slug, with nine of her 14 hits on the season coming of the extra base variety. With standout power hitter and first baseman Taylor Lane graduating following the 2026 season, Skibbe should immediately compete for a spot at first base.
