MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (11-31, 4-2 WCC) will travel down south this weekend as they will look to play a three-game series against Loyola Marymount. The Gaels will take on the Lions in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon followed by a single contest on Sunday at noon.
ABOUT LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
The Lions own a 30-17 overall record as they are coming off a series win against Santa Clara to improve their conference record to 6-3 in the West Coast Conference. During the series, LMU dropped the first game, but made a comeback as they would go on two win the next two to secure the series victory.
Utility Molly Grumbo has led the team so far this season as she has collected 47 hits with a .343 batting average, which is good for second in the conference. Grumbo ranks fourth in the conference in runs scored as she has notched 28 runs for the Lions. The sophomore owns a .416 on-base percentage and she has swiped seven of the teams' 23 total stolen bases.
Hannah Bandimere leads LMU in the circle as she holds a 12-10 record with a 2.74 ERA, which is good for best in the conference. In 124.2 innings pitched, the senior has recorded 80 strikeouts and has only given up 22 walks.
As a team, the Lions rank second in the WCC with a team batting average of .267 and a .347 on-base percentage.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week, Saint Mary's faced off against Pacific in a three-game series and won the first two in a doubleheader to clinch the series win. In the first game, Eryn McCoy led the Gaels in the circle and recorded a complete game shutout in the 6-0 victory over the Tigers for her fourth complete game of the season.
Bailey Lotz was also a key component in the Gaels' efforts as she went 3-for-3 in both wins and collected three total RBI's over that span. Kimiko Zapanta also had a strong weekend as she went 2-for-4 at the dish and scored two of the Gaels' six total runs in the first game.
