MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's men's tennis team (1-0) will have a busy week this week as they will look to play four matches.
They will first travel to Honolulu to face off against Division II No. 9 Hawaii Pacific on Monday at 1 p.m. and Hawaii on Thursday with a 10 a.m. start time. The Gaels will then return back to California and travel to Davis to take on the Aggies on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. before returning home on Sunday to host UC Irvine at 11 a.m.

The Gaels are coming off a hot start to their season as they recorded a 6-1 victory over Sacramento State in their season opener. SMC dominated on the courts as they picked up two wins in doubles action and five wins in singles. All singles matches were won in straight set fashion including a 6-1, 6-1 win from Felipe Rincon in his first collegiate match.Â
DIVISION II NO. 9 HAWAII PACIFIC
Hawaii Pacific (3-1) is coming off two back-to-back victories as they defeated Pacific and Division III No. 24 Cal Tech last week in 7-0 shutouts. Leading the team so far this season is junior Benjamin Loccisano who holds a 4-0 record as the top singles seed. Lucas Poock is also 4-0 this year with one victory as the No. 5 seed and three wins in the No. 6 slot.Â
HAWAII
Hawaii is entering Thursday's matchup against the Gaels with a 2-4 overall record as they just wrapped up the Las Vegas Invitational where they went 2-1 during the weekend. Andre Ilagan sits as the top singles player for the Rainbow Warriors with a 2-3 record. Doubles duo Ilagan and Lucas Labrunie lead the team in the No. 1 doubles spot as they are 3-2 overall so far this year.Â
UC DAVIS
UC Davis (3-2) is coming off their first victories at home as they defeated both UTSA and Sonoma State last week during their home opener. Chethan Swanson holds the best record on the team as he is 3-1 as the No. 3 seed while also collecting a win in the No. 4 spot. In doubles, tandem David Goulak and Ivan Thamma have carried the team with their 2-2 record as the top doubles pair.
UC IRVINE
UC Irvine (0-1) has only played one match so far this season where they hosted San Diego State in their season opener and fell 5-2 to the Aztecs. During the contest, UCI tallied a victory on doubles courts along with four wins in singles action, including a back-and-forth battle where Jeremy Merville defeated his opposition 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 10-3. Prior to facing off against Saint Mary's, the Anteaters will take on San Francisco on Friday.
