MORAGA, Calif. — After spending a few seasons at multiple colleges, Blake Mann is heading north to continue his collegiate career. Saint Mary's Baseball welcomes Blake Mann as the latest member of the Gaels 2021 roster, adding a powerful right-handed hitting outfielder to the mix on a team that lacked power in 2020.
Â
Mann began his collegiate career at UC Santa Barbara, where he joined the Gauchos after being a top-ten outfield prospect in the state of California, according to Perfect Game. After seeing limited time during his freshman season and redshirting during 2019, Mann went the junior college route for an abbreviated year in 2020, playing for the College of the Canyons in the Western State Conference. That's where Mann enjoyed his breakout, returning to form where he led all players in the CCCAA with seven home runs, driving in 23, and hitting .372. To put that in perspective, the Gaels as a team hit just four home runs in their shortened-2020 campaign.

"Blake has the rare mix of power and speed," head coach
Greg Moore said of Mann. "He's matured into a pro-caliber outfielder, a threat in the batting order and potential leader for the Gaels."
A three-year varsity letter winner at Chaminade College Prep, Mann shined under head coach Frank Mutz during his high school days. His junior season, with a .338 average and 21 runs batted in, gave him the first of his two All-Mission League First Team selections. One year later, he turned it up a notch and became a top-tier prospect, batting .471 with 11 extra-base hits. His success as a senior led him to more First Team honors, including being named a CIF All-Star and Chaminade's Offensive Player of the Year.
