MORAGA, Calif. — After helping lead Saint Mary's Men's Basketball to their 21
st-consecutive non-conference home victory on Saturday afternoon,
Augustas Marciulionis has been named the Bay Alarm Student Athlete of the Week.
Â
For the second game in a row, Marciulionis put up a career-best in points, doing so with 11 points in the Gaels 80-59 win over UC Santa Barbara. After scoring 10 points one week ago, the freshman out of Lithuania went 4-10 from the floor (11 points) during his 23 minutes on the floor and was great on both ends of the floor. In addition to his 11 points, he also added tied career-bests with five assists (part of a 20-assist performance for the Gaels), and three steals, which also tied a career-best.
Â
His minutes have been steadily increasing all season, playing more minutes in the last five games in a row, culminating in his 23 on Saturday. Marciulionis is the second men's basketball Gael in as many weeks to win the award, after
Matthias Tass did so last week.
Â
The Gaels stay at home inside University Credit Union Pavilion on Tuesday against Stanislaus State. The game versus the Warriors will be free for all fans to attend, with free parking and a free game ticket. Donations day of the game will be encouraged to benefit a community service project with Grateful Gatherings. Grateful Gatherings provides furniture and household items to people transitioning from homelessness. In the spring, Saint Mary's staff and student-athletes will be renovating a home by providing furniture and household items for a designated family by Grateful Gatherings. Grateful Gatherings is a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible.Â
