MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's College men's basketball head coach Randy Bennett announced the signing of point guard Augustas Marciulionis to a National Letter of Intent for the upcoming season.
With Marciulionis, the Gaels are adding a young talent that has loads of international experience, along with family heritage that has history in the Bay Area.
The 6-foot-4-inch Marciulionis is a native of Vilnius, Lithuania and is a member of the U19 Lithuanian National Team, currently training for the U19 FIBA World Cup which begins in early July. He was also invited to play on the primary men's national team for EuroBasket 2022 qualifications.
"Augustas comes from a family with a strong basketball background and has played at a high-level internationally, beginning at a young age," Bennett said. "He is a talented point guard with great vision and has the ability to make everyone around him better. We look forward to him joining our program later this summer."
Marciulionis is the son of former NBA star Sarunas Marciulionis, notably of the Golden State Warriors. Sarunas was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014, and joined the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2015.
