SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The Saint Mary's cross country teams returned to Golden Gate Park on Friday afternoon for the SF State Invitational. The Gaels team comprised of the runners who didn't compete in the USF Invite last weekend, including six freshman runners getting their first collegiate experience. The men's side combined for a seventh placed finish in the 8k, while the women claimed ninth place in the 6k.Â
Women: The Saint Mary's women finished ninth out of 12 teams at Golden Gate Park with a total time of 2:01:06.70 and average of 24:13.67. Simon Fraser's runner combined to finish first with an average time of 22:16.82. Junior
Aushmitha Grewal clocked in first for the Gaels, crossing the line 45th in a time of 23:41.8 (38th scorer).
Men: On the men's side, Saint Mary's combined runners placed seventh out of the 12 teams in the 8k race. The seven scorers combined for a time of 2:12:04.30, with an average of 26:24.86. Chico State topped the leader board with an average finish time of 24:54.68. Freshman runner
Blaine Reynolds came in first for the Gaels, crossing 32nd (23rd scorer).Â

The Gaels will be back in action on Saturday September 18, when they travel to Riverside for the UC Riverside Invite.Â
