MORAGA, Calif. – Ali Bamberger of Saint Mary's Women's Basketball picked up right where she left off last season with two solid games to start the year, earning her the Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week.

The reigning Newcomer of the Year in the WCC averaged 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while blocking three shots over the Gaels' first two games.

Bamberger poured in 14 points with 17 rebounds in the opener at home against Nevada, and 13 points and six rebounds in the win at Cal Baptist.

The redshirt junior has again been a solid, steady presence for SMC in the opening week, shooting 58% from the field and going 1 for 3 from three-point range. Saint Mary's starter at the pivot has also dished out five assists in the early going.

The Gaels have two home games coming this week, hosting Rice on Wednesday, November 16 at 8:00 p.m. for the first time since 1992, and taking on the Cal Bears on Sunday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m.
